The Forgotten Dog Foundation is committed to finding loving forever homes for every dog that we save. However, some of the dogs we rescue have medical or behavioral issues that make them difficult to place, but we NEVER turn our backs on a single one of them. Instead, we provide these special dogs a permanent foster home where they can live out the rest of their lives with us. We currently have 18 dogs in our Sanctuary Program that require ongoing care and support. These dogs have a range of issues—some were abused and are fearful of humans, while others have special needs and/or ongoing medical conditions. We also provide refuge for senior dogs and many have a multitude of medical problems: arthritis, skin conditions, blindness, to name a few.
Our Sanctuary Dogs need your love and support! Your sponsorship will ensure that these dogs receive the best medical care, as well as nutritious food, grooming and, of course, lots of love and attention. We believe that every dog deserves a caring and safe home, and we are dedicated to being that safe sanctuary for these deserving dogs. Please help us provide the necessary care that our forever dogs need to thrive. Showcased below are a few of our Sanctuary Dogs that your kind and generous donation can help support. Thank you!

We were notified about Blossom when her owners surrendered her to a shelter after asking that she be euthanized. Fortunately, the shelter vet refused to give up on Blossom and contacted our foundation to see if we would take her in. Of course, we said yes! When we first saw her, we were shocked at the state of neglect she was in. Blossom had double ear infections, hair loss from a flea infestation, dental issues, and severe yeast infections all over her body. Blossom deserved a happy, loving, comfortable life.
Due to her ongoing medical challenges, we made her a Sanctuary Dog. She's now living out her life in a caring home where she gets home-cooked meals, a warm and cozy bed, and a lot of love.

Our beloved dog, Alfie, was found on the streets of Tijuana after a hit-and-run accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. It is hard to imagine the pain and suffering he must have endured, dragging himself around until a kind woman rescued him and brought him to safety. When we heard Alfie's story, we arranged for him to be transported to Los Angeles.
Despite his difficult situation, Alfie is thriving under the loving care of one of our incredible foster parents who takes in dogs with medical needs and disabilities. Alfie is receiving the compassion and kindness he deserves. He was recently fitted with a set of wheels to help him move around and now enjoys daily walks in the Santa Barbara area. The Foundation is grateful for those who care for our sanctuary dogs, providing a loving home for dogs like Alfie.

Mama came to us when we received a notification about a dog that had been given to someone living in a homeless encampment who no longer wanted her. Fortunately, a kind woman aware of this situation took Mama out of harm's way and contacted us to see if we could take her in. Mama was so shut down and traumatized by her past experiences and neglect that we felt it was best to make her a Sanctuary Dog.
Recently, Mama underwent an extensive dental procedure where all her rotted teeth were removed. She is now feeling much better and has regained her energy. This sweet dog will live out her life with us in a loving home where she is getting home-cooked, soft food meals, her senior supplements, a cozy bed, and unconditional love!
Alfie, a three-year-old Husky, was found on the streets of Tijuana after a hit-and-run accident left his back legs paralyzed. He was seen dragging himself around until a kind woman, who rescues animals independently, took him to safety. Alfie was then boarded at a veterinarian's office for eleven months! We knew that it was not a suitable place for a dog in his condition, so we immediately made plans to get him to Los Angeles. He arrived on March 12, 2024. He was thoroughly vet checked, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. A neurologist determined that sadly, he will not be able to walk again.
One of our incredible foster parents, Pauline, who specializes in caring for dogs with medical needs and disabilities, had an available space in their home. It was a perfect fit for Alfie! He recently received a new set of wheels and is thriving in his new environment. Alfie enjoys daily walks in the lush and green Santa Barbara area, and Pauline reports that despite his physical challenges, he is thoroughly enjoying life! We are grateful for the love and care that Alfie is receiving in his foster home.
