A few of our adopters share their Happy Tails!

2025

Skye now Pepper

Gizmo now Winston

Skye now Pepper

After recently having a dog pass away (16 years old), our family felt like something was missing. One night we were searching online, we stumbled upon Pepper and knew we had to meet her.

She became fast friends with our other dog and is so snuggly and sweet. Our boys love throwing her the ball and taking her on long walks. We feel so lucky to have found her and that's thanks to Gina and The Forgotten Dog. If Gina didn't find her in a shelter and take her home, we would have never met her.

The adoption was so easy and Gina was so flexible, helping us find times to come meet her and work through the adoption requirements. Forever thankful to Gina and team! Our family now feels complete again!

Thank you to Gina and Linzi at The Forgotten Dog Foundation for trusting me with Maverick. He has become such a huge part of my heart and I can't imagine life without him.

I'm endlessly grateful to you both.

Maverick means more to me than words can express and none of this would have been possible without the love and care you give to the dogs you rescue.

– Shelly, Encinitas

Gizmo now Winston

Gizmo now Winston

Gizmo now Winston

Foster failing Winston Theodore was the best thing to happen to me in 2025.

He is my best friend, my co-pilot, and the best unpaid intern through long nights of reports.

Working with The Forgotten Dog Foundation was such a special experience all the wonderful strong women involved inspired me to open my heart and I couldn't be more grateful.

– Molly, Santa Monica

Lita now Gertie

Lita now Gertie

Gizmo now Winston

I love the sweet senior dogs! When I saw little 11.5-year-old Lita had been left by her family after her owner passed, I immediately reached out to Gina and she was so kind and communicated with us through the whole process.

We are so beyond grateful to The Forgotten Dog Foundation for letting us adopt Lita now known as Gertie because she has brought such joy and spunk to our family and my two other dogs.

Please remember senior dogs can be just as amazing as any puppy if not more! The foundation is a wonderful team of rescue who love dogs, and we are forever full of gratitude for the opportunity to have this special girl.

– Robyn, Newport Beach

Shelby

Lita now Gertie

Charlie

Shelby has brought so much happiness into our home. She's fun, mischievous, and endlessly playful—there's truly never a dull moment with her! She loves exploring every corner, stealing socks, and finding new ways to make us laugh every single day. Our house is definitely more chaotic now, but it is the sweetest kind of chaos.

And taking this picture took more than 10 shots because Shelby never wants to stay still! This is honestly the best one where she's not trying to be silly with us...lol!

Working with you throughout the adoption process has been wonderful. You were so kind, patient, and made everything feel easy. We're really grateful for the smooth experience and for trusting us with Shelby. She's already such a special part of our family!

– Kristel and Brian, Torrance

Charlie

The amazing team at The Forgotten Dog have brought me two different Charlie's over the past two plus decades. These amazing dogs have been my soulmates and companions. I will forever be grateful to Linzi and her team for the opportunity to have shared their lives.

– Rob, Calabasas

Dante now Dragon

Dante now Dragon

Dante now Dragon

Dragon has brought an immense amount of joy, laughter, and snuggles into our lives, and the right amount of mischief to keep us on our toes, too! We love him and couldn't imagine our family without his love and spunkiness.

We have a deep amount of respect for Gina and Linzi, and the integrity that they bring to ensuring the dogs they rescue are paired with a family that can meet the unique needs of the pet.

With our gratitude, love, and regard,

– Erin and Michael, Venice

Oscar

Dante now Dragon

Dante now Dragon

Oscar is the joy in my life!

He is the sweetest, kindest, most loving guy. Whether it's going for our morning walks or playing fetch with his toys, (especially the squeaky ones), he is always happy. My family loves to visit to see Oscar and the feeling is likewise.

Thank you Gina and The Forgotten Dog Foundation for bringing Oscar into my life. Can't thank you enough.

– Cora, Encino

Betsy

Dante now Dragon

Forest & Beau now RainBeau

When Betsy (left) came into our lives it was the weekend of our chihuahua Bruce's adoptaversay and a year since his passing. Having three dogs already, we weren't planning on adding another to our rat pack but seeing her photo at the shelter had me wanting to help her.

She immediately started cuddling with our blind senior Piper and we knew she had to stay. She has such a funny personality and will always put her paw in your hand. Working with The Forgotten Dog Foundation was a breeze and will always recommend to friends looking to add to their families.

– Taylor and Cary, Redondo Beach

Forest & Beau now RainBeau

Forest & Beau now RainBeau

Forest & Beau now RainBeau

Forest was instantly my dog the second I saw his photo! Then the decision to bring two home made perfect sense when I met Beau and changed his name to RainBeau.

These fur angels have made my new house a home! They love the beach and chasing birds and with each other! It was effortless working with The Forgotten Dog Foundation. Gina and Linzi's dedication and communication made this double adoption so easy!

– Heather, Carpinteria

Ollie

Forest & Beau now RainBeau

Taffy now Teddy

We adopted our pug, Ollie, because the moment we saw him, we knew he was meant to be part of our little family. His big curious eyes and gentle personality instantly won us over.

The Forgotten Dog Foundation made the entire process so meaningful—they truly care, going above and beyond to rescue, rehabilitate, and place dogs in loving homes. We wanted to give Ollie a safe, happy life, and thanks to their dedication, he has filled our days with joy, laughter, and the kind of love only a pug can give.

– Angela and Jonathan, Burbank

Taffy now Teddy

It was wonderful working with Gina and The Forgotten Dog Foundation. The diligence they go through to make sure all of their rescues find a safe, loving home is beyond measure.

Teddy is the best companion and the sweetest boy ever! We love him so much!

Lox

Lox

Lox

Lox is a baby brother to our girls. He has enriched all of our lives and taught our daughters about patience, understanding, and unconditional love. He is loyal, loving and incredibly grateful. Thank you to The Forgotten Dog Foundation for making adopting such a seemless process. Having him neutered and vaccinated made him able to easily fit into our family.

– Angela, Beverly Hills

Lox

Lox

Working with The Forgotten Dog Foundation has been super seamless and easy going. They are committed to finding the right family for all their dogs.

Camilla is just as sassy as I am—and it has been so exciting to see her progression from day one! All she needed was a little love! She's more confident, curious, and just the best love bug ever!

– Brittany, Inglewood

Gus

Lox

Gus

Meet Gus! He came to me at 6 months old in July. Linzi received a phone call from a woman who wanted to surrender him to the South LA shelter and called me. Suffice it to say this little bundle of energy is ball and toy obsessed and now almost 10 months. He is a joy for me and his older rescue sister, Sadie; even though paint has been chewed off of door frames, succulents have been dug up and brought into the house and two warm throws have lots of holes for ventilation.

I came across The Forgotten Dog Foundation when I took my dogs to the groomers in 2017 and saw my first (3 good legs) rescue that the FDF was having groomed. I am in awe of all that Linzi and Gina do daily to help dogs in such need-take them in, get needed vet care and love them while they try to find loving homes. What a phenomenal rescue!!!

Over 10 years ago with the help of The Forgotten Dog Foundation we brought home Bruno and PB, two chihuahuas to join our family. With the death of PB after the fires this year, we wanted to find another soul mate for Bruno.

The Forgotten Dog came to the rescue! Linzi set up five carefully and selected blind dates for Bruno and Bing was the winner. Bing and Bruno bonded within days and now they do everything together, including sleeping upside down.

"I'll have what she's having!" Our lives are enriched by welcoming in the dynamic duos of Miniature Poodles Harry and Sally and the awesomeness of The Forgotten Dog Foundation, especially Linzi and Gina. The goal is to have pawsitive impacts as volunteer literacy therapy dogs and bring the magic of reading and storytelling to local students. Who rescued who?"

– Sara and Barry, Los Angeles

Theo

Harry & Sally

Harry & Sally

Theo has brought unconditional love, cuddles and kisses to our lives. He also has brought an abundant amount of demanded playtime that makes us forget a challenging workday. His companionship has become a constant source of comfort and happiness. We can’t imagine our life without Theo.

Working with The Forgotten Dog Foundation has been a wonderful experience, filled with kindness, support, and a shared passion for making life better for our furry friends.

Harley

Chloe (in front) has brought such joy to our lives we gave her that as a middle name, Chloe Joy. We are grateful she waited two years for us to find her and give her a forever home.

Gina and The Forgotten Dog Foundation were great to work with and continue to be supportive to this day.

– Kari and Waldy, San Pedro

Harley

Cricket

Harley

Now that Harley has been with us for quite a few months, we cannot imagine our lives without him. He gets super excited for his walks, jogs, and loves to cuddle and watch TV, but his all-time favorite thing to do is play fetch - which he is really good at. The saying is so true - not sure who rescued who. We love Harley and what he brings to our lives.

Gina’s love for helping dogs and placing them in their forever homes is immeasurable. Her concern for a good match is admirable. She was so helpful, responsive and nurturing in making the transition seamless.

We are forever grateful.

We have known Linzi for many years, we met before our children were born and we then adopted our sweet Rosie, a darling chihuahua, who gave us so many wonderful years. We always knew we were going to come back to The Forgotten Dog and adopt again, and now we have! Figaro/Cricket is a funny, sweet, great addition to our two other dogs, Gaston & Toulouse!

The Forgotten Dog Foundation is simply the BEST rescue. There are no words to describe the incredible work they do to save dogs in need and the adoption is handled with such loving care making sure the dogs gets the best and right home for them. Much love from us!

"In March 2022, our family adopted our puppy, Honi, from Linzi and Gina through The Forgotten Dog Foundation. We fell in love with our Honi girl the moment they introduced us to her, but we were in the process of moving to Northern California. Linzi and Gina thoroughly ensured Honi would get the best home with us and that were the right home for her. Once the connection between her, our family, and our already adopted rescue pup, Keiki's bff and a a joy to our family with her constant kisses, which is what her name, Honi means in Hawaiian. Our family is now complete and we're so grateful to Linzi and Gina for all they've done and continue to do to support our expanded 'ohana!"

“If you’re looking to adopt a doggie, definitely check out The Forgotten Dog Foundation. Linzi & Gina have been a blessing in our lives. Starting with our first dog, Nikki who we adopted from them. She had metastatic cancer, and Linzi and Gina took care of her medical expenses up until the end! For that, we are forever grateful. They are true dog lovers & make sure their dogs get forever homes. Zoey is our second dog that we’ve adopted from them. She has brought so much love & joy. We can’t thank you enough for letting us adopt Zoey. You're the real heroes. We are forever grateful!"

“Tova and Simon came into my life and filled a hole in my heart that I thought would never heal. It was fortuitous that The Forgotten Dog Foundation posted about these siblings and wanted them adopted together (because of their bond). The process was thorough and seamless. Tova and Simon were already socialized and well taken care of by the foundation before they came home to me. Everyone who has since met them can’t believe they were “rescues”. They are healthy, loving, confident, smart, friendly, playful and adventurous! We are truly a family and I love them to no-end. I can’t imagine my life without them!”

“Adopting Pony and Peaches has changed my life in ways that I didn’t expect. Nothing is more rewarding than adopting, a senior dog.  Peaches was left in a box outside a shelter, never having known love or gentle touch.  It has been so heartwarming to see her come out of her shell. Pony and Peaches, get along beautifully and working with The Forgotten Dog Foundation has been incredible.  I have become a volunteer as a result of our relationship and feel like we are all one big family.”

– Italia, Sherman Oaks

Romeo & Roo

Romeo & Roo

“Romeo and Roo have changed my life for the better in every way. Together the three of us are a family. I look forward to seeing them the second I leave the house, and find myself sprinting in from my car knowing the greeting I’ll get from them when I walk through the door—even if I was only gone for 30 minutes.  We go on so many adventures, hikes, and play dates—after a long day of fun we get to sleep all snuggled together. The second I met them I knew I would want nothing more than to give them the very best life I could; they give me endless laughs, love, and joy every single day in return. The Forgotten Dog Foundation deeply cares about the dogs they rescue – they would never place a dog in a home that wasn't ready to care and love them forever!”

– Madeline, Playa Vista

Pippa

Pony & Peaches

Romeo & Roo

“I am so happy Pippa and I found each other at the beginning of this year. She has added so much love in my life and I love bringing my little travel buddy everywhere I go! She is the perfect match for me!  The team at The Forgotten Dog Foundation was very helpful in getting us set up with everything she needed and their continued support as things or questions come up has been extremely valuable. It is clear they truly care about the well-being of their dogs. Their detailed trial process really helps ensure that these dogs are going to loving homes with the right lifestyle for each dog rather than just simply off the streets.  Thank you Forgotten Dog Foundation for bringing Pippa into my life!”

Zara

Rusty

Rusty

“Our first experience adopting a dog from The Forgotten Dog Foundation was in 2011.  The Foundation’s passion and commitment to helping dogs brought us back. This time, we started as Zara’s foster family, but our dog Kingsley loved her so much, and Zara fit in with us like a round peg in a round hole, that we decided to adopt her. We’re so glad we did! She brings happiness into our home every day.”

Rufus

“There’s always room for one more! Nina loves being part of our pack, and my husband, my daughter, and I love her. We are her third home in 7 years, so she doesn’t let me out of her sight. She likes to jog on the beach with me—the only dog fit enough and obedient enough to do it! We thank The Forgotten Dog Foundation for letting us adopt her–and there was serious competition! Linzi is so careful in making placements to save homeless dogs.”

– Anne and family, Santa Monica

Rufus

“What a joy he’s brought to our family. Rufus is convinced us he’s actually a Tea Cup Rottweiler (shhh, don’t tell him he’s a Chihuahua). He rules the roost and we are so happy we get to be his humans. The Forgotten Dog Foundation is amazing!”

“Duke and Coco are the best. They have brought so much laughter, love, and a bond that can’t be ignored. They love so hard it’s amazing what a dog’s love and attention can do to a person.  They make us happy and let’s not forget we have guard dogs!  Working with The Forgotten Dog Foundation was like no other. They are caring, communicative, and most importantly care for their animals. The transition was easy and professional. I would definitely adopt again from the Foundation and refer them to anyone looking.”
