This is our precious boy, Max who is a 1 1/2 yr old Maltese/Terrier mix at about 18lbs. Max was surrendered to us when his owner unfortunately did not have time to care for a puppy and the responsibilities that come with owning one. He is a dog that will come into your home nervous and unsure and will take time to warm up to you and his new surroundings, but with patience, time, and love, he will learn to trust and feel safe in his new home. We need experienced dog owners who will give him that time and patience that he needs. He needs a home that will work with him and not give up easily. Max would do best with an active and experienced dog owning family that will guide him into being the best dog ever. He is terrified of the leash and walks, so he needs backyard practice before taking him out on the streets. Max MUST go into a home with another YOUNG, sweet, and playful dog. He CANNOT be an only dog. If you do not have another dog and are looking for two, he can be adopted with his best friend Felix (dobie mix). He’s a very young dog so he needs an active home that will exercise him and take him on hikes when he is trained with walking safely and properly. He needs a home with a safe and secure yard where he can run and play in. He cannot be an apt/condo type dog. Max also has issues with feeding time. You can set the bowl of food there and he will just stare at it. He needs patience and persuading to eat. You will probably have to hand feed him to get him to start eating. We don’t want to place him in a home that will feed him only dry food. He need encouragement so we want him with owners that will incorporate some home cooking and/wet food into his diet. Max is a dog that had a life of no socialization, no guidance, and no love. This little guy is one special pup who will make a great addition to any family.
